High Gabriel Water Supply Corporation Highway 183A Construction Project - 2006 The diameter of the bore pit on the east side of Highway 183 did not need to be as wide as the pit on the west side, but each one had to be the same depth. A combination of new underground valves, fittings and fire hydrants would be installed on both sides of Highway 183 at Green Valley Drive and South Gabriel Drive to connect the existing HGWSC water lines to the new water lines. The valves allow the different sections of the water distribution system to be isolated in case of a water line breakage or for repairs. The fire hydrants can be used for fire fighting or to flush the water lines if needed.
