High Gabriel Water Supply Corporation
Water Supply System Information
The High Gabriel Water Supply Corporation is a non-profit, member-owned water supply corporation. The system currently serves 138 customers of the High Gabriel Subdivision, located three miles north of Leander, Texas, on the east and west sides of US Highway 183. The High Gabriel Water Supply Corporation is administered by an elected board of directors. The By-Laws of HGWSC are available by using the link on this page.
The water supply system obtains its water from the Trinity Aquifer from two drilled wells located at the pumping and storage site. Submersible pumps, located deep inside each well, pump well water into three large above-ground storage tanks. The raw well water is chlorinated as it is pumped into the storage tanks. Booster pumps are then used to transfer water from the storage tanks to the underground pipe distribution system that supplies water to customers in the High Gabriel subdivision. Each customer's water usage is measured by a cumulative water meter, which is read monthly. A water bill is calculated based on the monthly usage and mailed to each customer.
Operating expenses for the High Gabriel water system include submersible and above ground pumps and electric motors, electrical control equipment, underground piping and fittings, water meters, equipment repairs, system maintenance, electrical power, postage, and data processing for the billing and payment of customer accounts.
